Hey, I am a GenZ, but yeah, I am not here to nag about how cool GenZ are, or how are the things we get tagged with (mostly by millennials) not so cool. This is just a share of thoughts, inputs if I frame it correctly.
So, yes, not every GenZ is the aesthetic fan or pookie here. I guess not only the Millennials, but we all indeed have a bad habit of generalising, like let’s get over with it, because if we don’t, we just get blinded by our own world of stereotypes and baseless opinions.
Many opine that GenZ are too sensitive, well it all depends on the surrounding , if you are raised as a sensitive kid who shouldn’t get hurt at all and pampered all the time, you are bound to be sensitive. But, if you are from an army or farmer background, your upbringing in general makes you a little resistant. And, being sensitive isn’t bad, it’s just a quality where you are free to express yourself, but don’t be over sensitive, it makes you vulnerable.
‘ Teenage Pregnancy’ is quite a buzzword today, but wait, it’s not just to blame it solely on wrong upbringings and lack of morale ( or ‘Sanskaar’ ), this thing has existed since many centuries. The sole difference is - Earlier, it was deemed as okay and alright, and now it’s seen as a social sin. Just imagine of the thousands of daughters who were forcibly married in childhood, and struggled with their pregnancies in their teen years, with no support from anyone at all.
Lack of cultural importance is also a aspect people tag the GenZs with, now see, I agree culture importance is waning in India, but it’s not just one generation, even Millenials and GenX are turning a blind eye to it. Call it modernisation or just people being too lazy and stubborn to understand their culture, we all are drifting away from it. It’s a inclusive problem, so let’s not just generalise it to a single generation.
Yes, but I agree that most of the GenZs do live more in the virtual world and are less connected with reality. Be it updating status every single hour, putting up snaps of food you eat at every single restaurant or endlessly scrolling social media, everything points at the vulnerability towards gadget/mobile addiction.
There are many cringe things prevalent in GenZ, but that doesn’t change the fact that even Millenials and GenX have some cringe and weird habits and notions. It’s just all about what is your definition of ‘cringe’? What I just want to put forward is - no single generation is 100% best. So, rather than making memes on GenZ and making them feel shit, just try to understand them and make them understand you too. This is not the best idea, but definitely better than this stupid trend of making GenZ memes.
Just a crazy writer with crazy ideas awaiting to bubble out!
