Similarly, CSK, after defeating RR by 5 wickets (with 10 balls to spare) at M A Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai on Sunday (May 12th, 2024), is in a much better position than RCB to make it to the playoffs.
RCB can make it to the playoffs if they defeat CSK by a margin of 18 runs or chase down their target within 17.4 overs. Also, LSG must lose at least one of their two games or SRH must lose both their games by a considerable margin. Only then can RCB make it to the playoffs.
For CSK, the path is much simpler. They need to win their match against RCB on May 18th, 2024 (Saturday) at Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru, to secure a playoff spot. However, their chances could be jeopardized if LSG wins both their games by a significant margin.
Can both RCB and CSK qualify for the playoffs?
Yes, only if RCB beats CSK, SRH loses both their games, and LSG wins only one of their two games. However, the chances of this happening are slim. Then again, this is cricket, and nothing can be ruled out.
