We often search far and wide for inspiration and motivation, from celebrities or famous people and ignore the people right beside us, especially the little ones. Here's how my 10-year-old daughter helped me overcome a fear.

A traumatic experience had made the roads & rides a source of fear for me. Even though public transport wasn't easy, the fear kept me off the road. Did not realize when this phobia built a house inside me until that dark night when I got stuck on road, my daughter clinged behind and scooter by my side.

I had taken quite a few years to get on scooter. My loved ones had put a lot of effort in convincing me but I always found a way to escape. Finally one day the scooter was infront of our house. Escape seemed impossible.

I slowly started my journey, with lots of criss-cross - more in mind than on road. Riding felt scary, so I only went out during the day, to escape from the fear of darkness.

One evening caught up in my fear again. I was late and the sun had already gone, welcoming the darkness. Riding at night scared me.  But I had to get back home. I gathered all my fear & tears. With shaky hands, I gripped the handlebars and started the engine. Taking a deep breath, I began riding slow. My daughter behind me must have felt, walking would be faster!

Then, I heard her voice from behind, “Amma, you can do it! You had to face this fear one or the other day. There are so many people riding at night & you can do it too.”

Her words, like a tiny cheerleader, gave me courage. I picked up the pace, and finally, we arrived home safely.

Looking up, I saw the stars twinkling like a million tiny applause signs just like my Little Shero who patted my back.

This night ride will stay with me forever with a lesson learnt that, sometimes the bravest inspiration comes in the smallest packages.

Cheers to star of my life who constantly inspire me to get going, no matter what.
