Movie Time in school was always special , sometimes our school hall got converted into a movie theatre with a projector and a white screen and all kiddos squatted on the floor , watching the magic unfold . Usually , we watched cartoons and the movie invariably ended with the National Anthem . The excitement amongst us girls was palpable with everyone waiting eagerly for the movie to start .
On rare occasions , the extra special ones , we were herded in a row , each one holding the uniform skirt of the girl ahead and take to Cauvery theatre , which was the nearest theatre we had near school . Sometimes for a fund raiser or sometimes for pure fun , we were taken there to watch movies on the big screen .
It was indeed special for us girls , the walk to Cauvery theatre , holding uniform edges , giggly girls , I am sure the teachers had a tough time getting us on our theatre seats . Then as the lights got dimmed and the chatter slowly calmed down to pin drop silence as the screen came alive and the sound almost deafened the ears .
One occasion had a movie with two similar looking actresses , if not understanding the storyline wasn't enough , I did not even know that there were two heroines and was under the misconception that both were the same . Four decades and more ago as just into the double digit girls , the movie didn't make much sense but the occasion became a beautiful memory .
Seeing pictures of Pari , the Indie pup , my brother and sis in law have adopted in a red T shirt , a hand me down from.her human cousin brother , I couldn't help but go back in time to the movie Laal Pari that school had shown us .
Again at Cauvery theatre , the storyline a faint memory only the name of the movie remains , Laal Pari , a lil girl in a red frock , all through the movie .
Our canine Lal Pari is away at her maternal grandmom' s place , my mother , her paternal grandmother , missing her , but also at times a lil confused , since Pari is a very new entrant to our home. Amma's reaction to her astounded me , treating her like a human grandchild , she patted her to sleep , enquired umpteen times when she's not around . Now that Pari isn't at home for a few days , giving her all the updates through the photos I receive from brother and sis in law on a daily basis .
Pari with her red T shirt is looking real cute and I could not help but re christen her as Làl Pari , the name springing into my mind from the movie we had seen in school .
This lil pup has wound the family round her paws literally and has the whole household behind her from the anecdotes I gather from my brother .
A doting dad and a mollycoddling mommy to boot , Pari , is enjoying , being little ! Going back to the movie , we had seen , the Lal Pari there must have also been the apple of dad's eye and mommy's Lil angel .
Can't quite recollect the story though , the name something I can't forget even after four decades and more .
Canines and the love they give their parents / owners is legendary . Looking forward to an eventful journey with Pari , Laal on some days , Peeli on others , Neeli at others , she sure is going to a colourful lil pup .
