The world needs a leader. In every nook and cranny of our lives, we need someone to fight for us; we need someone to speak for us; and we need someone to represent us. We have a lot of expectations of this chief, who can make miracles for someone else, but the world fails to understand that there is a leader within them. Leaders are not created; leaders are not animated in any of the universities; they are self-explored by themselves at some point in their lives. To begin with, I would like to discuss Chanakya or Kautilya, an active teacher, author, strategist, philosopher, economist, jurist, and royal adviser who was disrespected and insulted by the king Dhana Nanda because of his looks. This insult was a turning point for Chanakya to explore the spirit of a leader in Chanakya, but since Chanakya was a philosopher, he never proved himself as a great leader; instead, he created the leader and proved that he was able to create the best leader in anyone. Chandra Gupta was examined at all levels, like physically, mentally, and emotionally, from his childhood. Chanakya taught him to be patient even in the worst situation, and even at the happiest moment, this was one of the major abilities that Chanakya could be called the kingmaker. A leader is not just a person who could just empower himself during the worst situation and revert back to the foe; a leader is someone who empowers fellow beings along with him and reverts back to the foes with a strong mindset. Chanakya Shapath had a strong determination, which is that he would not tie his tuft of hair until he rooted out the complete Nanda dynasty and established dharma in Magadha. Here he is not only highly motivated to achieve shapath; he was passionate, he desired, he dreamt, and he organized himself to achieve shapath, and he made it with internal and external acts. Hence, Chanakya has proved that it is very easy to become a leader, but it is difficult to create a leader and to achieve the goal.
Leader or leadership is not just which comes from any sought of education or training it is with in each and every one of us when we fail to fear the fear with in, we fail to mould ourselves as a powerful leader. The world's greatest leaders were able to break themselves from the inside out of a shell of fear, so they created new life in themselves. At first, they led themselves physically, mentally, and emotionally, then they came out to lead others.
In addition, I would like to speak on Mahatma Gandhiji, who is a determined leader in the world. When he went through the discrimination in the railway carriage, even though he purchased the first-class ticket, he was not accepted because of racism, which triggered him to fight for Indians as well as non-whites in South Africa. For the twenty years he had witnessed physical and mental partiality and imprisonment, but he faced fear within and fear around. He was so determined about his philosophy of non-violence, non-cooperation, and civil disobedience that even though he was sent to jail, he had a clear vision of the philosophy he developed. With such strong determination, he was so precise and pertinent about his ideology that even though there might be hundreds of obstacles, he would succeed. But one point of time, when his ideologies were delayed, he never changed his thoughts about his philosophy of non-violence. It was the center of ideal leadership; he was very organized in his thoughts, words, and actions, and then he propelled his ideology in the war of Boer through the new spirit called Satyagraha. He never changed his mind, even though he went through difficulties, but believed that he had to fight without any weapon against the British; he was successful just because of his strong determination.
In the present generation, young minds fail to be determined when they face failure; they try to change their ideology; they try to get diverted from what they are about to do. When they fail at their task, they never try to be determined to achieve their own goals. When they keep on changing their ideologies, they become uncertain about their cause and disorganize their thought. When they are disorganized in their thought, they fail to lead themselves. The strongest leader will always stay determined, even in the face of failure with one ideology.
Furthermore, I would like to speak on Alexander the Great, who believed in “unifying the human race" and was much organized and believed in the spirit of leadership. When he was a young boy, he used to run along with a group of children by practicing the mock war strategies. He was so organized from his childhood that one day he would become the powerful leader. Even though he was unable to complete his education due to many circumstances, at his early childhood he did not get any good teacher to guide him, but he was organized by his thought that he would achieve for what he had called for; then he got a great teacher, Aristotle, who was teaching him about Greek and many other cultures. He just fell in love with the human race, but unfortunately, his education came to an abrupt end during the summer, and in a disaster, his father was assassinated at the age of twenty. He had no choice, so he succeeded his father. The sudden circumstances of the assassination of his father paved the way for Alexander the Great to plan what should be done next.
His plans were always unifying people; they never went out of the human-centric approach, for example. When he fought a battle with King Darius III and won, he did not harm the family of the king; instead of arresting or sending them to prison, he adopted the Darius III wife as his mother, and he went to conquer Egypt. A true leader always tries to unite society, irrespective of who they are! A leader should know what to accept. And what not to accept here in the case of Alexander since he was very well organized in his thought of unifying everyone and conquering the world, he accepted the Darius III wife as his mother. He accepted his task of conquering the world and rejected human discrimination.
In the present era, leaders get confused with power and position. For what reason has he or she been accepted? Lord Acton, a British historian of the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, said that “all power tends to corrupt and absolute power corrupts absolutely.” When we turn into leaders, we should not corrupt our power and position; we should organize enough to reach our virtue by thinking about the cause for which I have turned into a leader.
In conclusion, as I mentioned, the three great personalities in this article are totally different in their ideology, virtue, and philosophy, but they are called the great leaders of the world. What made them to be called as the great leaders of the world? A common feature among them is that they are organized in their thoughts and hearts about what they are fighting for: they had a clear vision of their ideology, and finally, they were very precise and pertinent about their action. All of them have proved that a leader is within each and every one of us; that leader sometimes fails to come out of fear of being disorganized or recognized by us. Sometimes the leader is provoked and brought out, but if he believes in the motivation rather than his ideology, then he fails to be a great leader. To be a great leader, it is not necessary to be trained in any university; passion, determination, and persistence about oneself are enough to make a great chief, to reach the great heights of leadership. Often, people are confused by a common question: whether leadership is skill or ability. Neither it is a skill nor an ability. It is a strong driving force within us. When a leader is explored in us to lead ourselves with organized thoughts, action, and words, we finally create a leader who cannot be defeated by anyone. Leaders are not born; they are created by provoking themselves for the common good of fellow beings and a better society by unifying everyone. Never wait until a leader comes to save you; better create a leader within you to save yourself.
