Bridging The Gap Between Teachers And Students.

Aim-

  • The aim of my article is to share certain experiences and few perspectives in bridging the gap between teachers and students.

Qualities of a well defined teacher:

  • A teacher should adapt the culture of her/his school.
  • The basic norms of a school includes,punctuality,honesty,discipline that has to be inculcated by a teacher.
  • A teacher should be a professional friend of students.
  • A teacher must have enough patience.
  • A teacher must use teaching aids for better conceptual understanding.
  • A teacher should develop a mutual subject related conversation in the class.
  • A teacher must deliver explanation without students peeping into the text book.
  • Few class room exercises must be implemented by giving a pause while teaching so that students do not feel sleepy.

Red flags that a teacher must say no;includes:

  • Do not enter the class room if you are in anger mood.
  • Do not share your mood swings with your students.
  • Say no to physical as well as verbal abuse.
  • Never implement discourages remarks.
  • Don't be  partial.
  • Do not entertain selected favouritism.
  • Do not maintain any confidential kinship with the students.
  • Do not hold grudge against students.

Certain must implementations of a teacher:

  • Figure out behavioural changes of students.
  • Ask questions frequently in a  random way.
  • Implement hook up(trap attention )process to make your class interesting.
  • Give the students freedom to express their thoughts.
  • Appreciate the students for the little good things they do.
  • Engage peer interaction after completion of topic,so that they learn and grow together.
  • A gentle pat,consoling words has to be implemented if students seem to be disturbed and distracted.

Must implementations of management:

  • A gratitude board has to be set,where every day,a teacher or a student or non teaching staff is being appreciated.
  • Instead of punishment,a particular corner has to be maintained,Where they should be given pace to analyse their class room drawbacks.
  • Teachers must be encouraged by the management to give an appreciation call to at-least 3 students parents every month.
  • Appreciation certificates could be given to students in different eras such as disciplined student of the month, punctual student of the month,good conduct student of the month,etc apart from academics.
  • Not only certificates,,other ways of appreciation could be practiced such as few kind words,gentle tap at the back,silent clapping.

Key point to be implemented by a teacher:

Setting a goal-

-a goal has to be set by a teacher for improvement of academics. Example-if a biology teacher wants to set a goal,she can be like-in a period of 3 months i shall try my 90 percent students to learn the diagrams and experiments upto unit-4.

Conclusion-

  • The above article explains certain methodology of teaching along with building a healthy professional bond with the students.
